The additions of Doug Akerson, Michael Cardenas, Gil Goetz and Rob Jevens further strengthens the firm’s commitment to its current clients while providing private equity firms and their portfolio companies with expanded industry due diligence capabilities and enhanced cost effective insurance solutions, inventive product and financing alternatives and exclusive client support in the energy, healthcare, transactional risk, employee benefits and property/casualty specializations.

Equity Risk Partners’ new executive hires include:
Doug Akerson joins as a senior vice president, Energy Risk. He has more than 25 years of insurance experience and has extensive knowledge of the power generation, oil and gas, petrochemical and renewable energy markets. Mr. Akerson previously held positions as managing principal at Renuity Capital, senior vice president at Jardin Lloyd Thompson, managing director at Beecher Carlson and senior vice president at Marsh & McLennan, to name a few. He earned a Master of Science degree in environmental engineering from The John Hopkins University and a Master of Science degree in technology management from Stevens Institute of Technology. Mr. Akerson received his Bachelor of Science in finance from Rider College. He is based in Equity Risk Partner’s San Francisco office.
Michael Cardenas is a vice president, Business Development/Healthcare Risk and leads Equity Risk Partners’ newly formed Los Angeles office. He has a notable background in the healthcare industry, boasting more than 20 years of experience. He is certified as a Charter Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and a Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU). Prior to joining Equity Risk Partners, Mr. Cardenas was an assistant vice president, Medical Professional Liability at Allied World Assurance Company. Mr. Cardenas earned his undergraduate degree at University of California, Los Angeles in political science and government and completed his M.B.A. at Loyola Marymount University
Gil Goetz, vice president, is a property/casualty broker serving the due diligence requirements of private equity firms and the commercial insurance needs of publicly and privately owned businesses. Prior to joining Equity Risk Partners, Mr. Goetz was a managing director at Marsh, leading the firm’s retail wholesale food and beverage (RWFB) industry practice in the West. Mr. Goetz holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Ohio Wesleyan University. He is headquartered in Equity Risk Partner’s San Francisco office.
Rob Jevens, a seasoned professional with more than 20 years of experience, is vice president, Transactional Risk at Equity Risk Partners. He previously served as director, Business Markets and M&A Practice at The Bensman Group, focusing on employee and executive benefits, commercial insurance and high-limit individual and professional insurance. Previously, he was a consultant at The Cochlan Group, Inc., a relationship manager, Business Markets at MB Financial Insurance and a financial representative for Northwestern Mutual Life in the Individual Life, Disability and Long-Term Care Insurance practice. Mr. Jevens earned his Bachelor of Science in engineering technology from California State University, Long Beach and he has audited classes in the Master of Laws (LLM) program at The John Marshall Law School. He is currently matriculated in the Certified Employee Benefits Specialist Program (“CEBS”) at the University of Pennsylvania – The Wharton School. Mr. Jevens is based in San Francisco.
